September 1, 2008: The penultimate rounds of NAsHDC will be televised on NBN4 National Television!
August 23, 2008: Top Ten New Features of the 2008 NAsHDC:
- All breaking Debaters will get 1,000 worth of Havaianas gift certificates.
- Breaking debaters shall also get exciting gifts from International Herald Tribune.
- Grand Champions will get 15,000 pesos in cash.
- Members of the Champion Team shall also get 100,000 worth of Philam Life Insurance each (a total of 300,000 pesos).
- Members of the runner-up team shall get 50,00 worth of Philam Life Insurance insurance each (a total of 150,000 pesos).
- Over-all best speaker shall get 100,000 pesos worth of Philam Life Insurance.
- Finals Best Speaker shall get a limited edition IHT Year book.
- School of the Champion Team shall get 1-year IHT subscription
- Exciting gifts and prices from David's Salon are waiting to be given away.
- There will be a fashion show for and by the participants during the break night party sponsored by LEVI'S.
August 23, 2008: Registration for stay-out participants has been extended to August 29. Please register your teams if you have not already done so.
August 10, 2008: To all participants: Sunday venue shall be the CSB School of Design and Arts (due to the annual Law Board Exams taking place in DLSU on Sunday, September 7).
August 9, 2008: Announcement to participating teams - some motions will be taken from the Manila Bulletin and International Herald Tribune.
August 5, 2008: NAsHDC has now become the Manila-Bulletin NAsHDC!
August 5,2008: Reminder to all participants - Deadline for registration is on August 29, 2008 for stay-out participants and August 22, 2008 for Stay-in participants. The TOURNAMENT TEAM CAP is just 80 teams which shall be distributed on a first come-first serve basis, the Institution TEAM CAP is 4 teams.
The De La Salle Debate Society (LSDS) and the Manila Bullletin welcome you to the largest and most notable gathering of the nation’s high school debaters and public speakers—the Manila Bulletin-6th National Asians High School Debate Championship! Now in its 6th year, NAsHDC has been an annual gathering of the Philippines' most brilliant young minds. This year, one of the country's premier and leading newspapers is partnering with LSDS to make the tournament even better.
MB-NAsHDC will be held on September 5-9, 2008 at De La Salle University-Manila. Topnotch adjudication and quality tournament organization has always been a trademark of the competition.
MB-NAsHDC aims:
- To HONE the potentials of the youth and unleash their talents;
- To INCULCATE the value of critical thinking and awareness to the future leaders of our country;
- To PROVIDE an avenue for academic discourse and cultural exchange amongst our youth;
- To CONTRIBUTE to the social, cultural and intellectual growth of the nation’s young generations; and
- To DEVELOP the youth’s English proficiency.
MB-NAsHDC is part of a larger framework which is the Lasallian Education on Adjudication and Debate (LEAD). Under this program, LSDS envisions to educate Filipinos by spreading the culture of debating throughout the Philippines.
